32.3% of adults cannot read or write.

43% of females aged 15 and older are illiterate

20% of males aged 15 and older are illiterate.

42% of females and 21% of males above age 15 have never attended school.

15% of children never go to school.

50% of children do not reach grade 5 of primary education.

Only a total of 17% females and males enroll in secondary education.

In rural Cambodia only 1.7% of females and 4.2 % of males enroll in upper secondary level, the last three years of Cambodia's basic education.

Pre-school services are unavailable to over 90% of the child population. 

Less than 5% of primary school teachers have completed high school.

To remedy this chances4all has chosen to operate in the area of higher education specifically for candidate students from secondary schools throughout Cambodia. These students will be the future leaders of Cambodia. The concept of this long term sustainable project is to provide interest free loans to needy students and to reinvest those loans to new students upon payback of the loans.

Two study programs are now underway; with 6 students attending the Royal University of Agriculture studying Land Management and 4 students attending the National University of Management studying Banking & Finance our goal is to triple this number next year and double that number in the following year.

After the third year we plan to be supporting approximately 100 students by providing loans and the facilities that are necessary to enable students to successfully complete their studies and to coach them in their job and scholarship endeavors. To achieve these objectives we have defined the following strategy.

To create a mutual relationship between sponsoring companies, institutions and likeminded individuals from the Netherlands, Cambodia and worldwide, who have an interest in developing the knowledge and skills, related to the study program of talented but chanceless Cambodian students spread over the different provinces of Cambodia.

To develop an education program and attract funds from companies and other institutions that will be used as interest free loans to talented and chanceless Cambodian students spread over the different provinces of Cambodia.
